Hip Arthritis Symptoms
Important Facts About Hip Arthritis
If a person is suffering from hip arthritis, they will be suffering from a condition known as osteoarthritis. This is a common form of hip arthritis which is also called ‘wear and tear’ arthritis and sometimes even degenerative joint disease. This is a form of arthritis that results in gradual damage to the cartilage of a patient’s joints. When this happens, and cartilage that protects the bones wears down, the bones become exposed and friction of these bones can cause an enormous amount of pain.
Normally Found in People That Are Fifty Years Of Age Or Older
Although anyone of any age can suffer from hip arthritis, it is commonly related to people that are over fifty years of age. It is also common for the problem to appear in people that are overweight. When exercise is added to such a person’s daily routine, it is common for the symptoms to fade away as excess weight comes off the body. It is also believed by doctors that this could be hereditary so if anyone in your family has suffered from it then there is a chance you could do the same.
There are also other factors which could cause a person to suffer from hip arthritis. These could include experiencing a trauma with the hip or due to having fractured bones close to the joints. If you do have hip arthritis then there are symptoms you can look out for which get progressively worse as time passes by although you may also experience long periods of time with no pain. The temperature outside can also affect whether or not hip arthritis symptoms return. Because of all of these factors that can affect the symptoms, it is important to take an overall view and not a daily one as a daily check may not show the true extent of the condition.
Some common symptoms of hip arthritis are: pain during activities, limited mobility due to pain and stiffening of joints, stiffness in hips and the necessity to limp while walking. If you experience any of these symptoms then it is important that you arrange to see your doctor as soon as possible. Treatments for such conditions vary greatly, with some being topical and readily available whilst others require more serious attention and even surgery.
Before deciding on any course of action regarding your own symptoms, you should ensure that you seek appropriate medical advice for your individual case.
